Books

Here are pages about two of the books I have written:

The first, Soul Explorations, is a workbook, a set of journal prompts that leads readers through an exploration of five of the world’s religions while helping the reader to explore their own worldview along the way. It is designed to be used with a partner, so that you can provide each other with responses to each other’s ideas and experiences, thereby deepening your relationship and making the process a lot more fun. The book can also be used alone or with a larger group, such as in a world religions class or a book club.

The second book, Starting Points for Teaching World Religions, is a resource for several readers:

  1. religious studies majors looking to get an overview of the subject and the many approaches to it,
  2. seasoned teachers who are teaching religious studies for the first time and who have not had a lot of training in the subject,
  3. new teachers who may have content knowledge, but who are new to the craft of teaching
  4. Any person who likes learning about world religions and who wants a deeper dive. Rather than just conveying facts about religions, this book helps readers to be aware of the ways we approach religions and how each way brings with it advantages and disadvantages. The takeaway is that if we can make ourselves aware of what we are bringing to the study of a religion, we can transcend these limitations and gain better understandings.
